February 24th, 2019 TLNT Chapter 5             A part of this chapter that really stood out to me was Google. Up until this course, I was not familiar with how to use it. Now that I have been utilizing it, I really enjoy the many features Google has to offer. One of my favorite parts of Google is Google Drive, which allows individuals to work together on a project and even provide feedback on an individual's work. I also like the search engine KidRex, which is a kid-friendly search engine that shows appropriate and relevant sources that students can use. TLNT Chapter 3           Technology is a great tool and advancement in the education system. It is most importantly beneficial to the students. With an ample amount of apps, websites, and resources, students are able to engage in learning in a fun way. Some applications allow rapid feedback and generate curiosity within the students. The part I like the most about technology is the ability to collaborate with others using wikis, discussion boards, online surveys, and digital storytelling. This ultimately creates more discussion within the classroom, creating a classroom community. Students will be more engaged because they will feel as though there is no judgment and everyone is their friend. Tasks Before Apps         I learned a lot about how exactly to incorporate social media platforms into a classroom. I believe it is essential to monitor students' contribution in collaborative tasks.  A way to do that is using an online platform that students could write a sentence or two about the steps they plan on taking or an exit slip. students could address questions or concerns in these slips. Transforming Learning with New Technology  Chapter 1: Becoming a 21st Century Teacher        As I began to read this chapter, I immediately connected to Hilary. She knew she wanted to be a teacher ever since she was a young girl and knew she would go on to continue her dreams to do so. As a teacher, it is important to recognize how technology continues to emerge and influence the classroom. In the classroom I'm in now for student teaching, they are highly dependent on technology. They use Ipads to share student's work, smartboards to write and copy notes, and laptops to record data and share information. There are no chalkboards used in the classrooms, proving that technology is becoming more prevalent.     What shocked me was that 4-14-year-olds prefer smartphones and tablets to any other digital device. Hello. Welcome to my blog! My name is Amber or Ms. G. I am currently a student teacher in P.S.1. and I aspire to be most, if not all, of the qualities listed above. I am studying to be a special education childhood teacher.  Through my process of student teaching, I am learning a lot about the life of the teacher.  I am looking forward to see what the future holds for me.  I found this meme very accurate as this class will teach me about technology and how it will impact my teaching. As time continues, technology is becoming more influential in everyday lives. Just about 100 years ago, technology was barely in existence. Now thinking forward, you can only imagine how technology will continue to advance and why learning about technology in an educational setting is crucial.
